The Heart Gallery is a traveling photographic exhibit created to find forever families for children in the state of Vermont’s foster care system. The Heart Gallery began in 2008 by featuring portraits of five children, and has featured a total of fifteen children since that time. Five adoptions and three matches have been facilitated as a result of children’s publicity in The Heart Gallery exhibits. The Heart Gallery has now been displayed over thirty times in various locations such as banks, libraries, community events, malls, and the Burlington Airport, where it is currently featured.

This past year, The Heart Gallery welcomed a new photographer to take photos of the children. Julie Richards of Julie Richards Photography volunteered to meet and take portraits of children in need of families. Julie’s outgoing and engaging personality makes the children she works with feel welcomed and comfortable in her presence, and laughter is often heard while portraits are being taken. Lund Family Center enthusiastically thanks Julie for her amazing skills as a photographer and her endless generosity in providing The Heart Gallery portraits free of charge.
