Grants Update

Many services provided by Lund to the community are supported through grants from funders both public and private. During the summer months we were delighted to receive confirmation from the Vermont Department of Education that Lund has been awarded an Early Education Initiative grant to support the expansion of our Early Childhood Program to include a Preschool group, providing the necessary continuity of care and education for our three and four year olds. Lund’s Preschool is also partnered by Champlain Valley Head Start.

Also over the summer, Lund was awarded grants from the Samara Fund and Ben and Jerry’s Community Action Team to support the All Children All Families staff training program. The Human Rights Campaign, a civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans, spearheads the All Children – All Families (ACAF) initiative which seeks to enhance LGBT cultural competence among child welfare professionals and educate LGBT people about opportunities to become foster or adoptive parents to waiting children, ultimately increasing the number of foster children placed in permanent families.

Lund’s Adoption Staff has worked with the HRC Family Project and ACAF Advisory Council members to reach 10 benchmarks of LGBT competence. When an agency achieves each of the 10 benchmarks, they are awarded the ACAF Agency Seal of Recognition. Lund’s Adoption Program staff will be trained to affirmatively welcome families headed by LGBT adults; to exhibit cultural competence in working with and supporting those families; and to raise awareness among LGBT adults regarding the opportunities for adoption and foster care.

Lund is also excited to announce a grant from the Amy E. Tarrant Foundation to support our Project Family partnership with the Department of Children and Families, a program that seeks to place children in DCF custody and foster care in permanent adoptive families. We sincerely thank these, and all our grantors, for their support to our Programs.
